Young Drivers:The Reality

posted in Cheap Auto Insurance |

Older drivers are less likely to get into a car crash than younger drivers. Older drivers are far less likely to get into deadly accidents causing deaths, or injuries to themselves or others. In the UK, young drivers under the age of twenty five are far more likely to get into a car crash. Studies also have shown that a teenager is at least three times more likely to get into a crash than somebody who is over the age of forty. One in five new drivers on the road will get into an accident within six months of getting their license.

Young males are at an increased risk of being involved in a crash than young females. Females are shown to drive less than males, and they take less risks while on the road. Young drivers are often thrill seekers who love to get the thrill of driving fast, especially around corners and turns. Young males like to impress their friends by not going at or under the speed limit.

After a car crash, young men are more likely to have over the legal limit of alcohol in their system. Alcohol use, and drug use, combined with the lack of driving experience can make driving very dangerous. If caught driving while under the influence of alcohol, your license could be taken away for at least a year. Also you could face six months in jail, and pay more for your auto insurance. If you take drugs, either illegal or legal, can have the same results.Being on drugs can also have the same penalties as when driving while drinking. This can result in a lot of injuries, or even multiple deaths.

In the late evening hours or early morning hours, the hours in which young drivers are more likely to be either drunk or on drugs, is the time when they have the most accidents. Driving at night is also very dangerous for young drivers because they think they can pay less attention to the road, or that they can speed, because the roads are much quieter. Incidentally a different form of cheap young driver insurance reflects this fact by offering discounts for drivers who who don’t use the car during the early hours. Many young drivers think because the roads are quieter at night, then it is safe for them to speed and pay less attention. Young drivers usually have the mind set that if nobody else is wearing their seat belt, then neither do they.
